Master Plan 2050
Sydney Olympic Park's Master Plan 2050 is being created to realise the new vision for Sydney Olympic Park to be - Sydney’s Beating Green Heart - a place that is energised with everyday life, is country-first and nature-positive and is where Sydney comes to play.
Building on the work of the Sydney Olympic Park 2050 Vision and Strategy and incorporating the feedback from the Park community and stakeholders, Master Plan 2050 focuses on the role that Sydney Olympic Park plays to address some of Greater Sydney’s intractable problems, including provision of new and diverse housing options and jobs growth, social infrastructure for improved liveability, green spaces for high density communities and solutions for greater resilience to address the impacts of pandemics, climate change and habitat fragmentation.
Strategic Directions
The ten strategic directions identified in the Vision and Strategy to shape the future of Sydney Olympic Park are now being tested and refined by the project team to inform Master Plan 2050.
These directions reflect a series of opportunities that leverage Sydney Olympic Park's natural and built features, its engaged community, unique governance structure and drive for being a world leader in sustainability, longevity and smart places.
All these directions are supported by a series of actions that provide a framework for bringing our vision for Sydney Olympic Park's exciting future to life.
Master Plan 2050 will be delivered in two stages:
- The Strategic Place Framework is a short planning document that will bring the Town Centre and Parklands together for the first time into one cohesive structure plan that shows the spatial elements to build on the vision, pillars, directions and key moves identified in the Vision and Strategy; and
- Preparation and documentation of the statutory Master Plan 2050 document which will supersede the existing Master Plan 2030 (2018 Review) and Master Plan 2030 (Interim Metro Review) and will contain:
- Planning Principles;
- General Controls and Guidelines for the whole of Sydney Olympic Park;
- Precinct-specific Controls and Guidelines including: site configuration controls (site boundaries), Floor Space Ratios, Land Use Controls, Building Height Controls, Building Zone and Setback Controls and other relevant controls eg. event controls.
