Neighbourhood Block Party and Community Picnic

Sydney Olympic Park Authority hosted the Neighbourhood Block Party (April 2019) and Community Picnic (June 2019) events to seek community interest in forming a local community group and identify community priorities.

Town Team Community Workshops

Sydney Olympic Park Authority in partnership with the Town Team Movement hosted a series of community workshops to identify community interest in forming the Sydney Olympic Park Town Team.

Sydney Olympic Park Town Team Community Facebook Group

The Sydney Olympic Park Town Team facebook group was established by local residents in July 2019. In September 2019, it reached 100 members. In October 2019, Sydney Olympic Park Town Team was registered as a Town Team with the Town Team Movement. It was the first Town Team in NSW. The groups members started to meet regularly to plan initiatives.

Community brunch and Christmas crawl events

The Sydney Olympic Park Town Team group started meeting to plan events and activities. In November 2019, the group hosted the first community event at Abattoir Blues.

2020

Community Christmas crawl event

Due to challenges around Covid, events and activities were limited through 2020 and 2021. In December 2020, a Community Christmas Crawl event was hosted at Abattoir Blues and Ribs and Rumps as part of the Sydney Olympic Park Town Team initiative.

2021

Rebooting the Sydney Olympic Park Town Team group

In September and October 2021, residents and local businesses started discussing ways to restart the Sydney Olympic Park Town Team initiative through a series of online community meetings. Local businesses, Ribs and Rumps and Abattoir Blues in partnership with local residents planned a series of "Community Outing" events to restart the Sydney Olympic Park Town Team initiative.

The Sydney Olympic Park Town Team Facebook group continued to grow during this time and became a good source for residents and businesses to interact with each other, connect and share information. As of November 2021, it has more than 600 members.
