  • A Day in the Park Mural, Pop Up Park

A day in the Park mural by Zoe Edema and Xander Edema celebrates the memories and moments of our community, the meals we have shared, family picnics, olympic achievements, walks around our beautiful natural surroundings. The vibrant colours speak to our joy, sense of belonging and our shared values of harmony, excellence, creativity and collaboration.

This mural was created in collaboration with the Sydney Olympic Park community who helped artists paint the mural in December 2020.

  • Coalescence Mural, Jacaranda Square

Coalescence mural by Muralisto artists Zoe Edema and Xander Edema aims to inspire a path of togetherness, where we flow side by side and lift each other up with strength and happiness. We hope these bright activations infuse Jacaranda Square with an energy that encourages connection, open-minded conversation, play and positive interactions.

  • Colourful Chairs, Jacaranda Square

A key feedback from the community was the need for flexible seating options and for more colour and vibrancy in the public places in Sydney Olympic Park. To respond to this we have added colourful outdoor chairs and tables in Jacaranda Square. We are hoping to add more colourful furniture in the coming months.

  • Colour Locale - Yarn Bombing, Jacaranda Square

Stripey, spotty and everything in between in this wonderful woven wonderland, “Yarn Bombing” Corridors of Colour! -soft upcycled blankets of love wrap these shady trees. Take photos. Have a picnic. Hug a tree. Enjoy. Imagine. #MySOP

Yarn Bombing is the art of wrapping solid objects in blankets of crafty love. Yarn bombing emerged internationally in the 2000s to smother the world with love, colour, creativity, hope and peace.

The activation was in Jacaranda Square from December 2020 to March 2021.

  • Street Library, Jacaranda Square & Abattoir Blues

  • Life Locale, Local community videos

From November 2020 to February 2021, we showcased videos of interviews with local residents and retailers captured during 2019 community picnic event.

These videos show the community aspirations from Sydney Olympic Park and how can residents and retailers work together to create community through community led initiatives.

You can see these videos in the Homify project video gallery.

  • Fly Locale, Jacaranda Square and Pop-Up Park

Fly Locale is an artwork by Artist Yoshiko Yoshe who has captured local birds in Sydney Olympic Park in a colourful way.

It is an invitation to our community to take photographs with this artwork that gives you wings.

  • Welcome Signs, Jacaranda Square and Pop-Up Park

A key community feedback though the Homify project was around providing signage with names of the four project sites - Jacaranda Square, Pop-Up Park, Stockroute Park and Pullman Link.

We are reviewing permanent signage options. In the mean time, temporary signage has been added to Jacaranda Square and Pop-Up Park.

  • Street banners, various places, Olympic Park

Community, nature, colour and pride - you can see street banners with these words in various parts of Sydney Olympic Park. These are inspired by the "A day in the life of the Park" mural in pop-up park which was inspired by the community feedback to the question - What inspires you?

It is great to see community feedback captured in the place identity of the Park.
