Rings of Experience

The discovery phase led to a concept design phase which inspired the development of a “Rings of Experience” framework. This framework connected the smaller public places in the town centre with distinct identities focused on Visitor, Night Time, Everyday, Neighbourhood and the Linking Ring.

Experience maps

‘Transformational experience’ infographics were developed for each site, which identified key activation opportunities for each site and its surrounds to guide the development of ongoing community experiences.

Concept designs

Place concepts were developed for each site to inspire future thinking around these sites for temporary or permanent activation. These concepts should not be considered as final planning proposals for these sites.

Events and Activations Grant at Sydney Olympic Park

The community feedback was used to also inform the criteria for our Events and Activations Expressions of Interest (EOI) in December 2020. As part of this EOI we provide funding to organisations to activate public spaces in Sydney Olympic Park.

A number of events and activations have been funded through this EOI. These include:

1. Lunar New Year Festival
2. Deco Park Picnic
3. Abattoir Blues Garden Festival
4. Women's Media Arts Festival
5. Roll Interactive Artwork

Asset and operational improvements

Community and stakeholder feedback from the project is being used in planning of future asset improvements and reviewing policies for Sydney Olympic Park. The first of these include the addition of community amenities in Jacaranda Square, Pop-Up Park and Bicentennial Park.
